Acura Spring Maintenance:

What items are essential to check before getting on the road?

It's that time of year when the weather has turned pleasant, and we want to head out on vacations and road trips. Even though we live in the south and the winters are milder than other parts of the country, that doesn't mean we can ignore some of the vital maintenance items on our Acura cars and SUVs.

Inspect the battery in your Acura

It is essential to check that your battery is functioning properly - after all you won't be able to start your car or worse, you could be stranded if the battery is not working. To prevent this, you should bring your car to our Acura service center near Auburn and Opelika to have it checked.

Check the Tire Pressure in your Acura

You probably know that the pressure changes depending on the temperature, but it also changes over time in your tire, so it is best to have it checked. Examining it may be one way to gauge if it is low on air, but it is better to be safe than sorry and have it checked out by one of our Acura Mechanics here in the Columbus area.

A thorough examination of the tread on your tires is necessary in order to determine how well they are able to grip the road. You will need to replace the tires if the tread measurement is too low.

Is the Air Conditioning in your Acura blowing cool air?

If you live in the south, you know how hot it gets in spring and summer. Before heading out on a road trip, let us check your air conditioning to make sure it is in good working order. You wouldn't want your AC to go out halfway to your destination!

Inspect the Wiper Blades on your Acura:

Spring is often accompanied by lots of rain and pollen. You want to make sure you can see clearly when you are driving, and wiper blades are essential for this. During the cold months of winter (yes, even in the mild temperatures of Columbus, GA), plastic can crack on the wiper blades, which means they won't operate as well as they should.  Squeaking sounds and streaks on your windshield are also signs you need to replace your wiper blades.

Get Your Oil Changed

While you are getting your vehicle ready for spring, changing the oil is another important task that you need to complete. When changing your oil, it is imperative that you use the appropriate type of oil for your vehicle and that you adhere to the recommended schedule provided by the manufacturer. In addition to preventing any potential issues, it will assist in maintaining the smooth operation of your engine. We often have oil change specials at our Opelika dealership which you can find here.

Check Your Acura Coolant Levels

When the temperature begins to rise, it is imperative that you check the amount of coolant in your vehicle. Also, check to see that there are no leaks and that the level is completely full. In addition to this, you need to make sure that the hoses and belts are in good condition by inspecting their condition.

Wash the pollen off your Acura regularly

The advent of the spring season brings a yellow dusting all Southerners know as pollen.  However, pollen can be more than just a bad look on your car. Did you know that if it is left on your car, it can actually become corrosive to the paint? That's why it is important to wash pollen off your car regularly.
